How to: Set up your Wireless Analogue Bird Box Camera (GFTX1/NC701G)Updated 5 hours ago
This guide shows you how to set up and troubleshoot the Wireless Analogue Bird Box Camera (NC701G / GFTX1GB-B02) pictured below. If you are unsure of which camera you have please check here.
How do I set it up?
Before installing the camera in your nest box, wire it up inside the house first to make sure everything is working as it should.
The first thing to do is to remove the lens cap and power up the camera using the mains power supply.
Now that you have the camera connected to power you can plug in the receiver which is the the little silver box. Grab the little antenna included in the kit and screw that onto the side. Connect the power supply and insert the yellow AV cable plug into VIDEO1 and the white AV cable into AUDIO1.
Before we go any further, it's a good time to check the channel selection. You want to make sure that the camera and the receiver are on the same channel. We recommend starting at channel 1, if you run into any interference issues further on you can always change this.
Please note: The channel selector on the camera can be very fiddly, we recommend using a small object like a small screwdriver or a pin to move them back and forth.
After you have checked the channels are correct we can connect the receiver to your television. You will have the white and yellow RCA cables to connect the receiver to the television, most TV's do not have a standard RCA input anymore, but if it does it's as easy as connecting the corresponding colours.
If you do not have the RCA connections, we do offer an AC to HDMI converter for this reason. You just need to power the converter using a mini USB cable, connect the corresponding cables to the audio/video inputs and plug the HDMI cable into the output and into the TV.
Wether you have connected it straight to the television or you are using the converter, you should now be able to go to 'source' on your TV remote and go to the correct channel.
Different manufacturers list the RCA inputs under various names. Commonly used names are AV1, AV2, AV3 or EXT1, EXT2, EXT3. Some manufacturers will name it by its correct technical name which is Composite. If you're using an HDMI converter you need to select the HDMI channel. If you're unsure which input you’re using, try going through all of them, or check your TV manual.
